If it was like most, you probably didn’t understand much of what was being said. Unlike producers, most Account Managers didn’t get the benefit of attending a formalized training program. Training for an Account Manager position consists primarily of “on-the-job-training” which is little or no training at all. We call this “Learning in the Osmosis Chair”. You are welcomed to the firm, shown where the restroom and lunch areas are located and then taken to your new desk or cubicle, where you are expected to sit in the Osmosis Chair and absorb wisdom and knowledge up through your backside.
